In a 4 year period, working hard on developing the hand, wrist and forearm muscles Alex was able to increase his strength 70%. Now imagine what even a 20% increase in strength would mean to a hitter, pitcher or position player. Stronger hand, wrist and forearm muscles mean quicker bat speed for the hitter and additional power - not to mention better bat control. Added strength gives more pop to a pitcher¹s fastball and an increase in the movement and sharpness of his breaking pitches. And what about the position players? Imagine adding distance to an outfielder¹s arm while making the throw from the power alley! Or the infielder¹s newfound ability to cut down runners from the deep in the hole! ArmWorks will enable the ball player to focus on these muscles like never before, and in doing so increase performance in all facets of his game.
| The reason the weight system was developed was to enable a person to build their tendons and ligaments equally with their muscles. Tendons and ligaments actually receive three to four times less blood flow than muscles do. This means that tendons and ligaments build three to four times slower than muscles, since blood flow is the main factor in building tendons, ligaments, and muscles. In order to build tendons, ligaments, and muscles safely without injury, small weight increases are needed. As the weights that you are using become heavier it is necessary that your weight increases become smaller to allow the tendons, ligaments, and muscles to rebuild themselves safely. They will then be able to handle the next weight increase without a problem. People reach plateaus in weight training when the weight increases have been too large for the tendons, ligaments, and muscles to handle. To avoid plateaus or failure at heavier weights, the weight increases need to be adjusted early. There are many signs indicating that the weight increases need to be adjusted. Two of the most obvious signs are a change in form, and a tendency to increase speed in movement. There is a eight-plate weight system that I have developed so that any weight increase can be reached either by using the weights individually or in combination. The weight of the eight weights are as follows: 1/4 oz., 1/2 oz., 1 oz., 2 oz., 4 oz., 8 oz., 16 oz., and 32 oz. The following is how the weights would be used for a cable machine or an ArmWorks machine workout, in which 3 oz. increases per workout were being taken:
This system will allow the increases to go all of the way up to 2-1/2 pounds in any ounce increments. The weights are slotted and have a 2-inch hole in them. This allows them to be used on an Olympic bar as well as on chain and cable weight lifting machines. These weights were also designed to be used on the ArmWorks Hand and Forearm Machine. They also are available for use on dumbbells. One of the most important factors in their design is that all of these weight plates are machined by hand to achieve accuracy of the weight within .003 of a gram. |
